The government had set up a program designed to help people affected by medical issues relating to the events of 9/11. The World Trade Center Health Program provides free monitoring and medical treatments to those who have been diagnosed or are at risk for 9/11 related health conditions. 58 types of cancer are included on the list of covered conditions.

Recent studies show that the risk of cancer goes up at least 19 percent in those people who were exposed to the toxic chemicals at the crash site.
